VannaGene Schiroo, age 85, of Eagan, formerly of Winthrop, passed away Thursday, October, 22, 2009, at the Clare Bridge Brookdale Senior Living in Eagan.

Funeral Service was held at 11a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop, with interment at the Clear Lake Cemetery, Cornish Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. Visitation was held 4-8 p.m. on Friday, October 23, at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop and continued one hour prior to the time of service at the church.

Clergy officiating was Pastor James Snyder. Eric Larson served as organist. Congregational hymns sung were "O God, Our Help In Ages Past", "The Church's One Foundation", "How Great Thou Art".

Honorary casket bearer was her grandson serving in Iraq, Nicholas Swanson. Casket bearers were Thomas Schiroo, James Schiroo Mattthew Schiroo, Jonathan Schreiner, Arden Johnson, Winsty Bullemer, Bruce Lunderborg and Gene Lunderborg.

VannaGene is survived by her son, Gerald "Jerry" Schrioo and his wife, Barb of Lakeville; daughter, Karla Schreiner of Burnsville; five grandchildren, Jonathan Schreiner and his wife, Melissa of Burnsivlle, Karrin Swanson and her husband, Nick of Fayetteville, NC, Matthew Schiroo, Thomas Schiroo and James Schiroo all of Lakeville; sisters-in-law, Elva Lunderborg of Gibbon, Bernice Lunderborg of Minneapolis and Lorene Boedigheimer and her husband, Bernard of Minneapolis; brother-in-law, Herman Schiroo of Hutchinson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

VannaGene is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mary Lunderborg; husband, Edwin O. Schiroo; sisters; Elvira Marrs, Juanitta Johnson and Mercedes Kosek; brothers, Edmond, Herbert, Harold, Quinten, twins, Gordon and Leslie, Cyrus (in infancy), Abner, Roger, Jasper, Charles and Virgil.

VannaGene (Lunderborg) Schiroo was born on July 20, 1924, in Severance Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Carl Albert and Mary (Miller) Lunderborg. VannaGene was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She attended Gibbon High School.

On June 1, 1947, VannaGene was united in marriage to Edwin O. Schiroo at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon. This union was blessed with the bitfh of a son, Gerald, and a daughter, Karla. VannaGene and Edwin shared 52 years of marriage before Edwin passed away on January 27, 2000.

VannaGene was a member of First Lutheran Church in Winthrop.

VannaGene enjoyed garage sales, going to casinos and playing cards with family and friends. When she needed assistance with her daily care, VannaGene became a resident of Clare Bridge Brookdale Senior Living in Eagan, on May 1, 2009, and passed away there on Thursday, October 22, 2009, at the age of 85 years.
