Accident claims man with local connections
A Blackfoot man was killed in a collision with a semi-trailer about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1. The accident occurred on Highway 39 about two miles north of Aberdeen, at Vanderford Road (1500 South).
According to the Idaho State Police, Joseph Grover, 63, of Blackfoot died after he struck a 2002 Kenworth semi which was driven by Daniel Bolgen, 59, of Aberdeen.
Both drivers were northbound with Grover driving a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. When Bolgen turned westbound onto 1500 South, Grover struck the semi-trailer from behind.
Idaho State Police reported that Grover was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene. Bolgen was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
The two roads were closed for about four hours during the police investigation and cleanup.
Grover was related to some Aberdeen area residents.
