The Union Parish livestock show barn was filled with excited anticipation from 4 H'ers and their families on a beautiful mild morning, Saturday, January 10th. This is the day that the 4-H'ers, parents, grandparents and volunteer leaders have been working towards for several months, and all of that preparation is about to pay off. Our continued success with livestock projects is due to the excellent leadership and tireless dedication of adult volunteer leaders, parents, grandparents, and unwavering supporters. Following are the results of the day's shows. Champion animals and showman were selected by livestock judge Alan Lee, but in my eyes all of these youth are champions because of their hard work and determination to "Make the Best Better".

1st Union Youth Livestock Banquet a huge success! On Tuesday evening January 20th, these same youth and their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins along with all of our sponsors and supporters gathered at the Farmerville Recreation Center for the Union Youth Livestock Banquet for a huge night of fellowship and fun. With the generous help of auctioneer Keith Antley and ringman E.C. "Conry" McCann we auctioned every kind of specialty home baked and canned item imaginable to raise money for the UYLC Scholarship Fund. With great community businesses and individuals we did just that, with $2,625 raised! Following the scholarship fund auction, we had the opportunity to recognize our sponsors for their tremendous support of the 4-H Livestock Program.

The money awarded to these 4-H'ers help he or she continues in the 4-H Livestock Project by helping purchase feed and future animals. Again, with the help of dedicated local business and individuals we raised nearly $15,000 for these youth. Without this support, our 4-H Livestock Project could not continue to positively impact this large number of youth!

If you would like more information about the 4-H Livestock Program, please contact Jason Holmes at 368-9935.
