David Bottom, executive director of The SHACK, was presented a $2,000 check this past weekend during the Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) midwinter conference in Basin.

Presenting the check to Bottom were Grand Madam Conductor Elaine Regi and Grand Aeire Trustee Carl Burnett. Regi is a member of Auxiliary #1299 in Carlisle, Pa. Burnett is from Clovis, N.M., Aerie #3245.

The FOE donates more than $10 million a year to local communities, fundraisers, charities and more said Jim Willis. He is a member of the local FOE Aerie 3086 and is the Wyoming state president.

Willis is the one who submitted the request for a grant to the Grand Aerie. He said that the FOE tries to contribute to eight national charities as well as in the local communities. Other benefactors of grants from the FOE are schools, a scholarship program and local programs for children.

Bottom told the group that the grant will partially go toward funding a Ballet Emmanuel workshop and performance that will be at the Basin City Arts Center this Friday.

Ballet Emmanuel is a professional Christian Ballet company that teaches local children ballet with a message.

"We are very thankful to the Eagles for this grant and what it will do to further our mission of helping the youth of our community," Bottom said.
