A Marble Falls mother who allegedly exposed her one-year-old child to meth-amphetamine was arrested Friday on felony child en-dangerment charges.

Kayla Ann Kinsey, 24, was booked in Burnet County Jail on her birthday at 9:45 a.m. and was released the following day on bond of $5,000.

Child Protective Services alerted Marble Falls about the incident on Dec. 8 after removing the child from the custody of its great grandmother on Nov. 25 after having previously removed from the custody of the mother.

"The report came to us by CPS, who had removed the child from a mother," said Marble Falls Capt.

Glenn Hanson. "She voluntarily gave custody to her great-grandmother."

Hanson said the child's great-grandmother, whose name has been withheld, allowed the mother and grandmother to have access to the child while the two women were reportedly known to be drug users.

"We did a hair follicle test and the amount of exposure (to methamphetamine) was greater than just casual contact," Hanson said, "because of that we were able to file charges for endangerment of a child."

Hanson said that due to the test results, the child had probably ingested the drug in some fashion.

"Ultimately, in cases like that it comes down to he mother to be protective," said Hanson. "The child was in her custody when exposed."
