Viola A. White

Viola A. White, daughter of Diedrick Koester and Helena Collman Koester, was born August 5, 1915, at rural Chester, Nebraska, and passed away on December 22, 2012, at Memorial Hospital, Abilene, Kansas, at the age of 97 years, nine months and seventeen days.

Viola graduated from Newton, Kansas High School in 1929. She was united in marriage to Virgil J. White on April 20, 1932, at Concordia, Kansas, and to this union three daughters were born, Phyllis, Barbara and Peggy.

She worked part time with her husband Virgil in White's Radio Shop. She later worked as a Nurses Aid at Republic County Hospital and then at Duckwalls as a clerk for 12 years. She was an excellent seamstress and took in sewing in her home for many years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church,

Belleville, Kansas, a 68-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, past presidents club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Virgil J. White, one daughter, Barbara Goetzinger, one grandson, one great-grandson, two brothers, and three sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Lynn of Hays, Kansas., Peggy Sorensen and her husband Robert of Abilene, Kansas, son-in-law, Ron Goetzinger of Augusta, Kansas four grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren, one brother, Eugene Koester of Beatrice, Nebraska, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 26, 2012, First United Methodist Church, Belleville, Ks, conducted by, Pastor Emily Meckley. Interment was in Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Family Choice

Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, was in charge of arrangements.
