NICK CARROLL

Nick wrestles at 285 and 220, which means in some matches he's giving up 65 pounds. Nick placed second in the 220-pound weight class at the Delcastle Tournament. It marked the first time he was in the finals of a major wrestling tournament. "He has been progressing and getting better each week. He is a light heavyweight, weighing in at 220 and wrestling up," said coach Chris Mattioni. Nick, giving up about 30 pounds, had a pin at 4:11 over Myles Vernet of Sussex Central Jan. 8.

AARON MATTIONI

Grappling in the 195-pound weight class, Aaron won his first match at the Delcastle Tournament before exiting because of a foot injury. "Aaron had a great tourney the week before at the Battle at the Beach, winning six straight matches four by pin, one by tech fall, and placed third," said coach Chris Mattioni. "He has been a leader in the room and a positive influence on others." Aaron pinned Kevone Knocks of Central at 1:41 in the Vikings' 49-17 victory Jan. 8.

AUSTIN SMITH

Austin placed second in the 160-pound weight class at Delcastle, losing to Louie Fedele of Salesianum for the second time this season. "Austin is progressing, and I think he and Fedele will meet in the state finals this year," said coach Chris Mattioni. He works hard in the wrestling room. Austin pinned Lucas Hudson at 3:16 in the 160-pound match versus Sussex Central Jan. 8 to begin Cape's parade of pins.

JUSTIN WRIGHT

A freshman in the 113-pound weight class, Justin placed sixth at the Delcastle tourney last weekend, the first varsity high school wrestling tournament in which he placed. Justin followed that up with a hard-fought 6-4 overtime victory over Matt Hooker against Sussex Central Jan. 8. "He is a hard worker who listens and accepts responsibility," said coach Chris Mattioni. "He should have a successful wrestling career at Cape."
