Janice DeBoer, 69, of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 28 at First Baptist Church in George, Iowa, with internment in the church cemetery.

Janice Kay (DeNoble) DeBoer was born Sept. 12, 1944 at Rock Rapids, the daughter of Jeanette (Van Goor) and Kenneth DeNoble. Janice was raised in the George area and graduated from George High School in 1962. She married Gary DeBoer June 22, 1962 at Hope Reformed Church in George. Janice was a homemaker, raising their children at home on the family farm west of Little Rock. In 1989, when they moved to Rock Rapids, Janice worked at the Hy-Vee pharmacy and then in Sunshine Foods' customer service department, retiring in 2013 due to her health. Janice was one of the founding members of AWANA at First Baptist Church where she served 34 years, many of those as a commander. She was also active in Christian Hour Circle and taught many children's Bible classes.

She is survived by her husband, Gary of Rock Rapids; their children, Gregory (Sharon) DeBoer of Little Rock, Iowa, Kimberly (Dennis) Winkowitsch of George, Dawn (Kory) Hayenga of George and Jodi (Jeff) Schrick of Rock Rapids; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn (Gayle) Wagenaar of Rock Rapids and Sandy (Allen) Freerks of Plainfield; one brother, Conrad (Audrey) DeNoble of Rock Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Erma (Tony) Arends of Trinity, Fla. and Donna (Dean) Shelly of Rock Rapids; one aunt, Eldora (John) Krull of Rock Rapids; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John H. and Anna DeBoer; and one brother-in-law, Harlan DeBoer.
