The Marion Business & Professional Organization met on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Mac's Diner with 15 members in attendance. Businesses present were: Al's Studio, City Economic Development Coordinator, Donlan's Foodland, Getskow Pharmacy, Luke Heating/Cooling/Plumbing, Mac's Diner, Marion School, Rapp Motors, Rex's Plumbing, Rural Medical Clinic, SEFP, Tieszen Chiropractic Clinic and Tieszen Memorial Home.

The November 14th meeting minutes and a financial report were distributed. Motion was made by Terry Winegar, seconded by Queena Getskow to approve the minutes and financial report as presented. Motion carried.

The 2013 Community Christmas Celebration was discussed. The event will be held on Saturday, December 14th at the Marion School. Information was provided on various matters, including setup, work schedule, door prizes, donations and vendors.

Dues for 2014 were discussed. Motion was made by Dick Donlan, seconded by Terry Winegar to set the 2014 annual dues at $105.00 per business member and $55.00 per individual member. Motion carried. Muller provided an update on the Sign Improvement fund balance.

Nancy Larsen, SEFP facilitator, distributed and reviewed her monthly facilitator report. Larsen advised of 7 new businesses, 1 expanded business and 1 retained business in 2013. Information was provided on 3 recent presentations. Additional information was provided on an upcoming meeting for the Dakota Rising program, as well as a webinar for recruiting alumni, newcomers & young families.

Terry Winegar, Marion School Superintendent, provided information on MHS basketball, sports co-op pursuits and a CTE grant. The next meeting will be at 12:00 p.m. on January 9, 2014 at Mac's Diner.
