Richard J. "Andy" Oswalt

Richard J "Andy" Oswalt, 85, of Wabash, Indiana died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, January 29,2009 at Bickford Cottage in Wabash. He was born September 29, 1923 in Wabash County to Roy and Eunice (Phillips) Oswalt.

He married Miriam Louise Campbell on April 29, 1945; she died August 14, 2005. Andy retired in 1985 from General Tire in Wabash after 25 years. He coached Little League Baseball several years. He was a member of the Wabash Christian Church, Wabash Elks Lodge, and the Wabash American Legion Post 15. Andy enjoyed cards, dancing, and loved his family. He and his wife Miriam spent several winters in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. He was a platoon sergeant in the US Army during World War II.

He is survived by his two sons, John (Lori) Oswalt of Morton, Illinois, Joseph (Brenda) Oswalt of Wabash; his daughter, Janice (Ron) Binkerd of Wabash; five grandchildren, Amanda (Jason) Randel, Andy (Amy) Oswalt, Sarah Binkerd, Erica Binkerd, and Meghan Binkerd, all of Wabash; and five great-grandchildren, Alexi Randel, Audrie Randel, Jace Randel, Kasen Oswalt, and Bailee Payton, all of Wabash. He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Martin.

Funeral services were held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, on Monday, February 2, 2009. with Pastor Rick Stone officiating. Burial was in Falls Cemetery.
