Ninfa V. Reyes was born Feb. 22, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas. She entered into rest Dec. 24, 2013, at the age of 65 with her family by her bedside after a fierce battle with leukemia.

Ninfa was born to For-tunato and Ignacia Lopez. She was the second child of 12. Her family arrived from Amarillo, Texas, to Othello in 1958. In her early years, she and her family worked harvesting agricultural crops in six different states.

She owned Vicky's Beauty Salon on First Avenue and was known by many in our community. Customers enjoyed her company and some even stopped by just to say hi.

She was preceded in death by her father Fortunato Lopez and mother Ignacia Vil-legas Vallejo. Vicky was surrounded by her beloved sons Manuel Reyes, Pasco, Johnny and Richard Garcia, Othello, and daughter Esther Jean Smith, California; brothers Frank (Maria) Lopez and Tony Vallejo, Othello, Joe (Lorenza) Vallejo, Moses Lake, and Adolfo Lopez, Wenatchee; sisters Nancy (Dana) Stermer, Bothell, Herlinda Daughtry and Rosemary Jacobo, Othello, Isabel Holloway, Conception (Dan) Johnson, Janie (Sherwin) Reeser, Spokane, and Aurora (Allen) Gollmyer, Olympia; several nephews and nieces; and six grandchildren.

Her children meant the world to her; she was compelled to succeed and set an exemplary manner for them. With sheer determination, she graduated from Moses Lake's Char-Glo's school of beauty in 2004. Vicky was absolutely fond of her accomplishments and beauty school certification.

Her hobbies included knitting and cooking and she tried a few years of karate lessons. Singing was her passion and this is where she surpassed head and shoulder above us all. Her charm, beauty and singing will be missed by all who were close to her. Vicky enjoyed listening to Jimmy Swaggart and Elvis Presley's gospel music.

The love and compassion she had shown to many will always be remembered since everything she did came from the kindness of her precious heart.

A memorial service was held Dec. 27 at Church of Agape Love (Pine Street Baptist Church). Viewing was held at 10 a.m., with service following at 11.

Donations in memory of Vicky Reyes may be made to: Frank Lopez, 930 E. Spruce St., Othello, WA 99344.

Arrangements entrusted to Danekas Funeral Home and Crematory, Othello and Ritzville.
