Glenna Lucille Amos

Glenna Lucille Amos, 82, of New Matamoras, passed away, Dec. 31, 2011, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Marietta, a daughter of the late Glenn and Beulah Lohman Schmidt. She was a life member of New Matamoras United Methodist Church and a 1947 graduate of New Matamoras High School. She had been owner and operator of the Grandview Tavern, was a lifetime and charter member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 378. One of her favorite times of the year was Halloween. She would dress up and participate in the New Matamoras Fire Department's Halloween Parade. She won as the oldest contestant. She was an avid bingo and card player. She loved her friends and she enjoyed her two Shih Tzu, who were named for her doctor, Bradley and Carman.

She is survived by her children, George Amos and his wife Terisa of New Matamoras, Nancy Amos of New Matamoras, Frank Amos II and his wife Jessica of Brownsville, and Ruth Ann Cochran and her husband Gary of New Matamoras; two stepchildren, Doris Lattimer and Frankie Jean Amos, both of Woodsfield, OH; one step daughter-in-law, Cecillia Amos of Apple Valley, OH; grandchildren, John Amos, Justin Amos, Jake Amos, Jilli Ann Amos, Christopher K. Collins, Devin R. Binegar, Cassie Gail Amos, Frank "Trey" Amos, III, Cooper Dale Amos, Jenna Davis, Mitchell Rowland, Micaela Cochran, Kimberly E. Wertz, Steven Ritchie, Shelly Arnold and Shawna Howell; great-grandchildren, Austin, Ashton, Reese, Slade, Kinley, Stella, Jaisah, and Ryan, Austin and Devin Wertz, sister, Ruby

Robinson of Wheeling, WV; nieces and nephews; a special niece, Kathi Jo Harris of Newport; and two very special friends, Nancy Shapley and Amy Petty, both of New Matamoras.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Amos, in 1983; one stepson, Carl E. Amos; and two brothers, John W. Schmidt and Charles K. Schmidt.

Services were Tuesday at New Matamoras United Methodist Church with Pastors Dennis Williams and David Beaver officiating. Interment was in Matamoras Cemetery. An online guest registry is available at
