Rachel Black, daughter of Connie and Marvin Black of Akron, is competing the in the American Legion's Oratorical "A Constitutional Speech Contest."

She won both the local Albert E. Hoschler American Legion Post No. 186 competition and the Ninth District contest.

On Jan. 25, Black was awarded first place honors in the regional Area III competition, which included Legion District's 7, 8 and 9 winners. This competition was held at Logan.
