Students participate in Social Studies Fair

Ritchie County students had an opportunity to participate in the Division I and Division II Social Studies Fair Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27-28.

The Division I Social Studies Fair for elementary school students was hosted by Creed Collins Elementary School, while the Division II fair was hosted at Ritchie County Middle School.

Students presented many different varieties of projects to the judges in the hopes of advancing to the Regional Social Studies Fair.

Projects included "Nobody Knows Barbie's Business", "Have the Davis's Lost Their Marbles?", Who Were the Rocket Boys?", "Amelia Earhart" and "Mary Lou Retton" were just a few of the student's projects.

Division I participants advancing to the Regional Social Studies Fair include Macy Hilvers, "Nobody Knows Barbie's Business"; Ada Chen, "Giant Pandas"; Sarah Roman, "How the Wolves Saved Yellowstone"; Trenton Karpovitch, "The Dr. Who Experience"; Maxwell Molessa, "What do the Names Huff and Austin have in Common?"; Jaxon Hostuttler, "Who were the Rocket Boys?".

Brylee Row, "History of Legos"; Maci Ireland and Madison Hall, "What Started the Duct Tape Revolution?"; Mia Amos and Madison Layfield, "Amelia Earhart";

Ryleigh Kincaid and Carlee Bell, "Mary Lou Retton"; and Shelby Andrews, Kayli Boring and Elizabeth Walsh, "What is Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum?".

Division II students advancing to the regional fair include Nathaniel Windom and Anthony Starkey, "What is Attack on Titan?"; Brenden Davis, "Nike: Past and Present"; Ashley Davis, "Have the Davis's Lost their Marbles?"; Kaila Stout and Sherri-Ann Steele, "The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum"; Kaleb Kovacs, "Trapping in Appalachia"; Lylah Ann Sandy and Ashlynn McAtee, "Inside Alcatraz"; Alayna Moyer, "Dazzling Dachshunds"; and Madia McCullough and Krista Davis, Are Marbles a Part of Your Past Time?".

The Regional Social Studies Fair will be hosted at Parkersburg High School Friday, March 20.

Other students participating in the Division I Social Studies Fair included: Samya Estep, Marissa Jeffrey, Laila Ankrom, Tatem Elliott, Charity Hannah, Aaliyah Jones, Taylor Osborne, Tye Blank, Wyatt Flesher, Conner Shaffer, Kolton DePinho, Brie Butta and Janessa Haynes.
