Rainbow Grange presents dictionaries to students

The members of Rainbow Grange # 527 presented the third grade classes of Mrs. Spangler, Mrs. Linville at Creed Collins Elementary and Mrs. Sheets and Mrs. Sparks of Harrisville Elementary with dictionaries. The dictionaries were purchased with money that was made from fundraising efforts throughout the year. Dinah Richards talked to the children of each class. The first thing that the children were asked to do was to put their names in the dictionary. The front of the book had a name tag made for them that had a rainbow and had this dictionary is presented to with a blank for the child to put their name by Rainbow Grange # 527 Beason Community. Next the children were asked to look up the word "Grange". There are different meanings of the word. We are an agricultural organization that was founded in 1867. Also the children were shown facts about each

President of the United States, a multiplication chart, facts about each state, facts about each continent, a Sign Language guide, a Brail guide, and the longest word in the English language. Members that participated in giving the dictionaries out were Master Michael Taylor, Diana Taylor, Cathy Davenport, Beth Richards, Mark Richards, Misty Ross, Debbie Sparks, and Dinah Richards. The membership of Rainbow Grange would like to thank Superintend Toman, the Ritchie County Board of Education, and Mrs. White principal of Creed Collins Elementary, Ms. Laura Snodgrass principal of Harrisville Elementary, Mrs. Linville, Mrs. Spangler, Mrs. Sheets, and Mrs. Sparks for allowing Rainbow Grange the time to come in and give the children the dictionaries.
