Jay Boy Adams with Zenobia & Mister Sister will provide the entertainment for Blues on the Bay Gala benefitting The Phoenix Center Saturday, Feb. 20, at Horseshoe Bay's Quail Point.

"They create a unique combination of guitar, keyboard, and harmonies that make you want to dance and have fun," said Sarah Garrett, Phoenix Center founder and executive director.

Jay Boy Adams' honors, including the West Texas Walk of Fame, flow from talent as a singer, songwriter and guitarist. The Top-Five Americana Chart artist shared tours with ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers, Joe Cocker and Bonnie Raitt. Zenobia, a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, is a three-time Grammy nominee. She appeared on Broadway in the rock musical "Hair" and toured with Burt Bacharach.

Tickets, at $200 per person, include time (between 6:30-10:30 p.m.) for dancing and a dinner of gourmet, bayou-inspired food and decadent desserts, along with an update of Phoenix Center programs. They may be purchased online at www.phoenixcentertexas.org or by calling 830.637.7848.

The non-profit Phoenix Center provides mental health care designed and facilitated by licensed therapists for children who have experienced trauma.

Programs include play therapy for children as young as three, therapeutic after-school programs, parenting classes and therapeutic overnight camp sessions at nearby Candlelight Ranch. In October, the Phoenix Center unveiled a 5-year plan to acquire 40 acres of land and build a 12,000-square-foot facility to place all its trauma-informed therapy in one location.

Phoenix Center last year served more than 550 chiU dren and families through diverse curriculum of therapeutic after-school programs, therapeutic camps, equine therapy, parenting classes and individual and family therapy sessions.

"The funds raised at our annual gala are vital to ensuring that children who have experienced trauma have access to the highest level of mental health care," said Garrett. "We continue to see a growing demand for our services."
