Last fall, Mrs. Holmes' agricultural class harvested yarrow, syringa and sagebrush seeds near the hot spring source at Starkey. Over the winter, those seeds were nourished and tended in the Council High School greenhouses.

Last Friday, the seedlings were returned to the hot springs for planting. Each seedling was removed from the individual plastic cone in which it developed roots, and then was set into a hole dug into the ground.

This, and similar projects, have been funded each summer by Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) money through the Secure Rural School Act, Tide II.
