City historic preservation consultant Robert Vogel will lead a guided tour of the Chatfield Center for the Arts, 405 Main Street, at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 12. Sponsored by the Heritage Preservation Commission, the tour is free and open to the public.

The arts center is housed in two historic buildings: the former Chatfield High School (commonly known as the Chosen Valley Elementary School), built in 1916; and the Potter Auditorium, built in 1936. Both buildings are in the process of being rehabilitated as part of a multiphased project that is being financed in part with $5.3 million in capital investment funds appropriated by the State Legislature.

Vogel is a professional historian and architectural historian with over 30 years experience working with historic building restoration projects throughout the United States and abroad. He has been working with the city's heritage preservation commission since 2008.
