Window Auction Saturday; Benefits Relay

Ply Gem will auction off new Simonton Windows and patio doors to support the American Cancer Society Saturday, May 9.

The auction is open to the public and will begin at 11 a.m. at the Simonton Windows manufacturing plant located along U. S. Route 50 near Ellenboro.

Hundreds of Simonton windows and patio doors will be available for sale.

Throughout the past 13 years, the window and door auction has raised more than $450,000 for the American Cancer Society, with $56,000 raised in 2014 alone.

All proceeds from the auction go directly to the American Cancer Society.

Locally, these donations help provide cancer patients with free wigs, free transportation to and from cancer treatments, access to a local support group called Look Good Feel Better, cancer prevention education, cancer screenings guidelines and much more.

Those interested in attending the auction may arrive as early as 9 a.m. to view the auction items.

Exact measurements of the windows and patio doors should be brought with those attending.

Cash and checks will be accepted at the auction, with checks made out to The American Cancer Society.

Those purchasing items must be able to take all of the items home the day of the auction All items are sold as is, without warranty.

Typically, the average auction price for windows is between $40-50 each, with the average auction price for patio doors between $100-125 each.

Cardinal Logistics, as well as the Simonton Cardinals Relay for Life team is assisting with the auction.

Many volunteers from the Ritchie County Simonton Windows manufacturing facilities, Cardinal Logistics and the Pleasants County Sim Ex Exstrution facility and their families assist with the window auction.

Auctioneers for this year's event will include Mike Nichols, Ed Duelly and Rex Cox.

Concessions will be available.
