The 16th annual Tour of Gardens, presented by the Woodinville Garden Club, showcases five diverse gardens on a self-drive tour. This year's tour is on Saturday July 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Included in the tour this year is a visit to a French country estate.

Chanole House is situated on 2.5 beautifully landscaped acres that embrace a Northwest forest habitat as well as perennial and annual gardens. The grounds are walled in stone and bring a feel of old world elegance to the gardens. The walls also provide the opportunity for vines and climbers, such as variegated ivy and wisteria, to flourish in a multi-level setting. Visual interest extends to the formal hedges and flowering trees.

Clipped hedges, evergreens and a wide variety of shrubs line the borders, giving a sense of privacy and flow to the garden rooms. One is led on a journey of exploration that adds to the appeal of this elegant estate property.

The outdoor areas include a sport court and a large backyard entertaining area that includes a pool and pool house. Large decorative pots provide colorful blooms throughout this space. An expansive lower level patio bordering the house with multi-level planters invites you to sit down and relax.

As you walk through agate and up some stone steps, you are led to a separate garden with paths for exploring native and shade-loving plants. There is a putting green and large children's play structure in this area as well as a rock garden that functions to retain excess rainwater. As you explore, don't miss the French potager a fenced-in garden area with green house and planting beds.
