A sling and ibuprofen

It's been almost three weeks since my shoulder surgery, and things continue to improve little by little. I've been coming into the center for 4 hours at a stretch trying to keep up with all that is going on, and when my arm tires out I just put it back into the sling and take a few more Ibuprofen. I will start physical therapy the first week in February, and recovery should start moving along rapidly after that, at least I hope so. It's so inconvenient to have things go wrong with you.

The Food Pantry in January was actually held on December 31st since the regular delivery date fell on the New Year's Holiday. We should be back on schedule for February, with the Pantry being held once again on the first Wednesday of the month. That date will be Wednesday, February 5th from 2 to 3 PM.

Then that Friday night, February 7th, we are having our first fundraiser of 2014: an "All You Can eat Taco Feed." I do hope you will plan on joining us. I know that there is a basketball game being played that night, and if it's played here, why not stop for a delicious Taco dinner before the game? We start at 5:00 PM and serve until 7 PM. The Council Jammers will be playing for your listening pleasure.

The Senior Center has been blessed with numerous donations in response to our letter writing campaign requesting financial support for the center and its programs. One such donation was that of a steer from Kermit and Joanna Wiggins. Gilmore meat in Weiser has donated the cost of butchering and wrapping the meat, and the seniors will be selling raffle tickets for a half a beef grand prize. Second and third place will each receive a quarter of beef. As soon as I have more information I will be sure to let you know. I know I will be purchasing some raffle tickets, how about you?

The foot clinic will be on Monday January 27th.

There are several open appointments as I'm writing this column, so please give me a call if you are interested in having your toenails clipped, calluses trimmed and feet massaged.

Well, my shoulder is aching pretty good right now, so I think its time for me to do something else. Until next time, I hope you are all well and happy.
