A Panama City man was arrested when two guns were found hidden in his vehicle during a traffic stop at CR 274 & CR 167 Friday.

Calhoun County Deputy Zach Whitfield pulled over Casey Joel Gouveia, 27, as he was leaving Calhoun County and heading into Bay County after he failed to heed the stop sign at an intersection.

The deputy's report indicated the driver seemed nervous when they spoke. When asked if he had any weapons or narcotics in the vehicle, Gouveia said no.

He was issued a warning and then asked to step out of the vehicle after a K-9 officer was called to the scene to perform a free air sniff around the vehicle.

The deputy said Gouveia became upset and pulled away after exiting the vehicle. He was handcuffed and put in a patrol car.

Whitfield and Deputy Colby Beck searched the vehicle and discovered a black AR-style rifle in the rear floorboard compartment, along with a tan zip-up bag that held a loaded Glock 9mm handgun.

Goveia was charged with two counts of possession of a concealed firearm without a permit. The report stated that he did not have a concealed carry permit.

Deputies also collected $473 in cash from the vehicle.
