A Marianna man has been charged with grand theft and uttering a forged instrument after he allegedly collected $800 by forging two checks, according to a report from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office.

After a complaint was filed that Joshua Barwick, 29, had stolen several checks from a Calhoun County resident last week, investigators determined that he had signed the victim's name on the checks and cashed them at the Jackson Teacher's Credit Union in Marianna. One check was for $600; the other for $200.

He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.
