A.F. man nabbed for Mr. Petrol's robbery, Jet Stop robber also caught

American Falls Police officers and Power County Sheriff deputies have arrested a man they believe robbed Mr. Petrol's Pantry on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Just shortly before midnight officers from both departments responded to a report of an armed robbery at the gas station and convenience store located at 502 Fort Hall Avenue in downtown Ameri-can Falls. According to reports, a masked man entered the store with a shotgun and demanded money from the clerk. .

The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money and then left Mr. Petrol's Pantry on foot. Officers and deputies searched the area and discovered the mask and gun which led police to Lakota Bayya, 19, of American Falls.

Bayya was arrested and charged with robbery with a weapons enhancement and possession of a controlled substance.

American Falls Police Chief Brandon Wilkinson said he was grateful for the result.

"I am so happy the clerk was not injured. The city and county officers worked very well together to quickly locate the suspect and getting him off the streets." said Wilkinson.

The robbery of Mr. Petrol's Pantry came just hours after the announcement that a suspect was arrested in another Power County robbery.

Pocatello Police arrested Gabe S. Hayden, 36, of Pocatello on suspicion of armed robbery of the Jet Stop store near the Pocatello Airport in Power County.

According to police reports Hayden enter the Jet Stop at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, with a gun and demanded money from the staff. Hayden left the store with some cash and merchandise.

Pocatello Police issued a press release indicating Hayden was questioned about the robbery and confessed to committing the crime during that interview. Hayden was taken to the Bannock County Jail and charged with felony armed robbery

Power County Sheriff Jim Jeffries said his department was not involved in the investigation because of an agreement between Power County and the Pocatello Police Department making the Pocatello department the primary policing agency for the airport area.
