Eighteen residents of American Falls received a rude awaking on Friday, Nov. 14, when they discovered or were informed by American Falls Police officers their vehicles had been burglarized over night. Some of those residents were relieved to find their vehicles had only been riffled through, but many were not so lucky.

Working with police departments in Chubbuck, Pocatello and Blackfoot police were able to recover some of the stolen property and identify a suspect.

Robert D. Pompa, 19, of Pocatello has been charged with similar burglaries in each of the other cities. Charges have now been filed against Pompa in Power County.

Pompa has been charged with 18 counts of felony burglary and three counts of grand theft, he could face between five and 15 years in prison for each charge.

AFPD Detective Josh Campbell said it is nice to bring this case to an end.

"Rewarding feeling to work with so many agencies and it is great to see an end result of filing charges to bring some measure of justice to those that were victimized," said Campbell.
