Cambridge Principal Notes
Believe it or not our winter athletic seasons are beginning to come to an end. The JV girls' conference tournament is scheduled for Friday, January 30 at Meadows Valley High School. The Titans will enter the tournament the number one seed. As of the writing of this piece, the time of our first game was not yet known. The last home game for the girls will be Friday evening against Cascade. The girls' district tournament will beginn Thursday, February 5 at McCall-Donnelly High School. The Titans are currently sitting second in the league and are expected to play at 7:30.
Congratulations go out to our junior high band members. Cambridge had six students qualify to participate in the Middle School Treasure Valley Honor Band. Even more impressive, three of those six were chosen as "first chair" in their respective sections. Ninety-eight students representing fifteen schools are participating in the Honor Band.
As principal of our school, one of the benefits of my position is having the pleasure of visiting classrooms to see learning first hand. Recently in food science students were learning "egg science." They learned how the proteins in eggs react to different temperatures. In doing so they made mayonnaise, among other products. In environmental science, I was able to observe a debate about the use of pesticides. The students did a great job of justifying their arguments with factual evidence and research.
Ever drop your cell phone or electrical device and ruin the screen? Students in Mr. McMichael's junior/senior English class are using a website titled, "Fix-it" to repair devices they have broken. Students are also developing their technical reading and writing skills by determining if the instructions written are correct and understandable.
Not only are basketball tournaments around the corner, so is Valentine's Day! The floral shop will once again have arrangements available for your loved ones. In order to ensure delivery, please place your order by February 6. You may place your order by calling 257-3311 extension 118.
