Library offers summer programs
Come one come all to the Wharton County Library, East Bernard Branch, where there is excitement for everyone of all ages.
The theme for the 2016 summer reading program is health and fitness, so what are you waiting for to "get in the game."
Join the "Wise Walkers" walking club, an adult exercise option in conjunction with our summer program. The walking club will feature a 30-minute walk around the library neighborhood. The goal of the program is to establish a regular fitness routine as well as encourage book discussion and socialization between library patrons. The program will run through the summer and encourages participants to exercise a minimum of 90 minutes a week.
Register for the program and pick up a log card. Log cards are stamped weekly and turned in at the end of the program for a chance at great prizes. The walking club program is simple; it only requires an "informed consent and liability waiver release" form.
The program will be held each Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9 a.m. through July 26.
Participants need to fill out a release form on his/her first day of participation.
Also this summer, adults and children are having a Summer Reading Program.
Adults will log five books and at the end of program will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Logs are due July 30, and prize winners will be called the week of Aug. 1-6. Children will have a lot of exciting programs lined for the summer.
Every Tuesday at 2 p.m. is a different program of entertainment for the children.
The remaining schedule includes:
June 28: Crocodile Encounters
July 5: Matilda the Clown
July 12: Wharton Police Chief Terry Lynch will fingerprint you
July 19: Ms. Cindy with LCRA will bring alligators, snakes, turtles and more...
