The Sussex Bird Club will meet at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14, at Cadbury at Lewes on Gills Neck Road. The speaker will be Dave Carter, president of the Delaware Audubon Society, and he will present the Audubon Climate Report prepared by National Audubon Society scientists.

The report used decades of Christmas Bird Count and Breeding Bird Atlas Data, and found that nearly half of North American birds (314 species) are severely threatened by global warming and could go extinct if action is not taken.

Carter retired from DNREC in 2012 after 28 years and was the manager of Delaware's coastal program. He will also talk about some of the ongoing activities of Delaware Audubon as part of a discussion of how Audubon and Sussex Bird Club may work together more in the future.

SBC meetings are open to SBC members. For information go to sussexbirdclub.com.
