I spent yesterday, along with Charlie Caruso and Paul Radasch, in Caldwell at meetings to learn about the Transportation and AAA bidding procedures for funds becoming available in the year 2014.

The first to come up will be Transportation, which will start November 20th with a pre-application, followed by meetings, webinars and ending in April of 2014. The AAA bidding procedure will begin in the Spring of 2014 for funding beginning July. We never had to worry about these types of issues before, as we either had EOA or the CCOA to take care of all the bidding. Of course, by going through them, we also had to give up a piece of the pie, which we will now keep, but because I've never had to do it before, I'm feeling a little unsure of myself. This too shall pass, and I'm sure that after it's over I will look back and wonder why I made such a big fuss about it in the first place. Just my nature I suppose.

Our Monthly shopping trip to Ontario will be on November 12th, and if you are interested in going, please let me'know so I can add you to the list. Also, would there be any interest in adding a shorter shopping day, say like on the 25th for items you might have forgotten for the Thanksgiving Holiday? Also, I'm thinking about adding another trip to Nampa in December before Christmas. Is this something that would interest you? Please give me a call here at the center or talk to me and let me know what you think. If you want the trip, I will need to schedule a driver, etc.

I'm looking out the front window of the senior center and watching the snow fall. It's so pretty. I don't know why, but snow always enchants me, it's so peaceful looking and beautiful. On the other hand, I think about having to start breaking water for the horses and birds and I think "Oh go away for just a little while longer" ...I'm not ready for winter yet!

One thing that does come with the snow is the Christmas concert of the Upper Country singers. It will be on December 8th this year. I hope you will all be able to come and enjoy this concert prepared just for the Upper Country Communities. The group works hard from September until the concert date, and then we sing Christmas songs in our heads until springtime. We do it because we love to sing, and it's our gift to get you into the spirit of the Christmas season. Come and join us on December 8th; we look forward to seeing you once again.

On November 20th the folks from WICAP will be here to do energy assistance! If you are eligible, be sure to mark your calendars now, as this is the only day they will be here.

The date of the next foot clinic will be on Monday, November 25th. There are still appointments open, so give me a call and have pretty feet for the holidays! The cost for the service is $20.

Have a great week everyone!
