Liberty, Jackson have lowest unemployment rates for area

Florida's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.2 percent in September 2015, down 0.2 percentage point from the revised August 2015 rate of 5.4 percent and down 0.6 percentage point from 5.8 percent a year ago.

There were 497,000 jobless out of a labor force of 9,532,000. The U.S. unemployment rate was 5.1 percent in September.

Florida's seasonally adjusted total employment was 8,113,900 in September 2015, an increase of 2,100 jobs over the month.

The unemployment rate in the Career Source Chipola region (Calhoun, Holmes, Jackson, Liberty, Washington) was 5.6 percent in September 2015. Out of a labor force of 41, 85 3 there were 2,364 unemployed residents in the region. Liberty County had the lowest unemployment rate in the region at 5.3 percent, followed by Jackson at 5.4 percent.
