Many thanks to the Lewes Streets Department

I live adjacent to the DelDOT road project at DeVries Circle and Kings Highway. During the seemingly endless destruction, dust and noise, workers on this project deposited their trash in a barrel in my backyard, which soon overflowed, attracting vermin and creating a potentially dangerous situation for my pets using my backyard.

Despite daily polite requests to remove this nuisance, nothing was done other than to place a pallet on top of it! At wit's end, I contacted a member of city council, Bonnie Osier, who enlisted the assistance of the city's fabulous streets department. The streets department personnel came to my assistance after quitting time June 24, and removed the barrel - they even picked up some spilled trash! Many thanks to city employees Fred Slater, Rick Melendez, James "Bear" McLean, Rodney Reynolds, and Kenny Morris for their invaluable assistance - they're the best! Considering the amount of upcoming changes to Kings Highway, I can only hope that DelDOT requires its workers to have more respect for our homes, pets and property. Again... much appreciation to streets department for cleaning up DelDOT's mess!
