Long leaves to take over at Corpus Christi Carroll

East Bernard ISD will see a new person in charge of its athletic department this year.

After Jerry Long resigned as athletic director and head football coach to take a similar position with a larger school in Corpus Christi, assistant coach Wade Bosse was promoted to the role.

Bosse, who just completed his eighth year with the district, is excited about the upcoming year.

"I'm extremely excited and looking forward to trying to continue the tradition we have had at East Bernard," said Bosse.

During Monday's East Bernard School Board meeting, Bosse praised the Class of 2016.

"I would commend our senior class on the effort they made all year long," Bosse said.

Though several great athletes have graduated, Bosse says there are some great athletes starting high school in the fall that he is excited to have on baord.

Student athletes are still working hard and staying in shape during the summer by working on strength and conditioning. The fall athletics season will kick off on Aug. 1, when football workouts officially begin.

"I feel truly blessed to have been given this opportunity," said Bosse.
