Roosevelt center publishes images from Newberry Library

DICKINSON — The Theodore Roosevelt Center (TR Center) at Dickinson State University is publishing online images of a collection from the Newberry Library. The collection includes letters from Theodore Roosevelt to cartoonist John McCutcheon, as well as letters from Edith Roosevelt to writer Octave Thanet.

The TR Center has been creating a digital library of items related to the life and presidency of Theodore Roosevelt since 2008. The latest addition of items from the Newberry Library expands the items available digitally to nearly 30,000.

The Newberry Library is an independent research library, specializing in the humanities and located in Chicago. It has been free and open to the public since 1887.

"The Newberry Library has a long tradition of service to scholars and the public," said TR Center project manager Sharon Kilzer. "They have been great partners in using the new tools of the digital age to make their collections accessible to a wide range of users."

Visitors to the TR Center website at can browse the recently added Newberry Collection as well as view other memos, cartoons, photos, and letters related to the life of the 26th president of the United States.
