At the Dec. 22 Akron City Council meeting, newly-elected Councilor Brent James resigned from his position.

James was to begin serving a four-year term this month.

James told his fellow councilors he had accepted a job in Sioux City, which required him to live there.

He tendered his resignation effective Dec. 22, 2009. Frerichs "reluctantly" made the motion to accept his resignation, and Johnson seconded it. The vote was unanimous.

James had been appointed to the council on Aug. 25, 2008 to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Councilor Lisa Roggatz.

The council is seeking a replacement to appoint to the position at the Jan. 26 meeting.

Anyone interested is encouraged to contact City Clerk Desirae Willms at City Hall. 568-2041.
