WHITNEY - A safety end-treatment and hazard elimination project on Farm to Market Road 933 began on Monday, Nov. 15.

The nearly 11-mile project, being undertaken by Knife River Corporation-South of Waco, will consist of new guardrail construction and safety end-treatments for culvert-ends at cross drainage locations under the roadway and at adjoining private driveways along FM 933 and the addition of two feet of shoulder width at various locations.

The construction stretches from FM 57 in Blum to FM 2604 north of Whitney.

The cost of the project is $4 million, and it should be completed by late fall of 2011 if weather permits, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

TxDOT urges the public to observe all warning signs and to exercise caution when passing near construction personnel and equipment in the project area.
