Mary Ellen Nogales

Mary Ellen Nogales, 74, died July 18, 2015, at the Lund House in Gilbert.

She was born in Caborca, Sonora, Mexico, on December 25, 1940, to Jesus & Julia Monreal.

She married Ruben Nogales in Ajo on February 13, 1965. The couple celebrated their golden anniversary this year.

Mrs. Nogales helped her husband with his businesses, handling the accounting and other paper work.

She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, serving as the group's regent for two years. She was also active in civic and charitable events in the community.

"She was a loving wife, mother, nana, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend," said her family. "She was always there to listen, give advice and make us laugh. She had the unique ability to make everyone feel special with her loving words, advice and faicial expressions. She was admired for her kindness, generosity and subtle sense of humor. Mary Ellen loved holding hands with her true love and soul mate. She loved cooking, listening to music and spending quality time with her grandkids and honorary grandkids. Mary Ellen especially enjoyed going to the casino! As committed as she was at raising her own childreh, she was equally committed to loving and raising her honorary grandchildren (daycare)."

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Ruben G Nogales; by her six children and their families — Ruben Nogales Jr, Fred Nogales, Ernie Nogales, Paul Nogales, Tammy Inzunza, and Sabrina Nogales; by her brother Hernan Monreal; by her brother-in-law George Moreno; and by her sister-in-law Yolanda Gonzalez. She has eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren plus one on the way.

Services were held Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of the Valley were suggested.
