Delbert A. Spear

Delbert A. Spear was born Sept. 30, 1925, to Bert A. and Pansy D. Spear. His parents had homesteaded in Fort Benton, Mont, prior to moving to Four Lakes, Wash.

Del served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as radarman second class on a minesweeper. One highlight of his life was being honored as a guest on the Honor Flight to visit the war memorials in Washington D.C

Del was a longtime principal and teacher at Four Lakes and later served as an administrator for the Cheney School District.

Del is survived by his loving wife Delitha, one sister Doreen Kafer of Bothell, Wash.; children Janet (Chuck) Pettey of Spokane Valley, Steven (Lorna) of Cheney, Delbert (Nan) of Spokane, Tim (Cheryl) of Boulder, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Linda, and sister Thelma.

Special thanks to Dr. Michael A. Kwasman for extending years and quality of life.

A celebration of Del's life will be held April 30, 1 p.m. at Unity Spiritual Center, 2900 S. Bernard St., Spokane.
