Connie Hornyak
Connie Jean Hornyak (Dougal), age 74, of Mesa, ID, passed away on July 29, 2015 in Meridian, Idaho. Connie was diagnosed with Cancer on July 6, 2015. She was cared for in her sister's home, and was surrounded by those she loved.
Connie was born in Boise, Idaho on August 13, 1940 to David F. Dougal and Leta Woodruff Dougal. She was the youngest for four children brothers David J. Dougal and Richard Dougal and sister Velma (Val) Dougal House.
She was an avid bowler and won many High Roller awards. Connie liked to enter a variety of handmade items in the county fair, and received multiple ribbons. Connie was known for her crafting ability. She worked with everything from wood to dried fish. Her hand-knit slippers were a favorite gift to family at Christmas. She was especially proud of her recipes in the Indian Valley Community Cookbooks. Connie loved to travel and have new adventures.
Connie grew up in Boise and the surrounding areas. In 1981 she moved to Mesa to begin her life with Ron Hornyak. She loved the land, the animals and the wonderful community of friends she found in small town living. Connie was a C.N.A. by trade. She was passionate about caring for those in need. She was a fierce friend and a compassionate soul. Her husband, Ron, passed away in 2012 after battling cancer for many years.
Connie spent the last two winters in Loreto, Mexico, making friends and enjoying the ocean. She traveled around with her friend, Tim Garrard, on his motorcycle and enjoyed many activities and sights.
Connie is survived by her children, Shannon (Dave) White, Bill (Kathy) Glass, Tammy Evans, Kirk Evans, 9 grandchildren and many great grand children; her sister, Val (Larry) House, and brother Richard Dougal. Her older brother, David Dougal, and two sons, Bryan Glass and Darren Evans, preceded her in death.
Her husband, Ron, and son Darren will have their ashes spread on her ranch with Connie's ashes as she requested.
The memorial service is August 15, 2015 at Indian Valley Church in Mesa Idaho — 1:00 pm. Her lifetime friend, Pastor Isaac Ward, will be officiating a special thank you to Heart and Home Hospice.
