May 20, 1933-Sept 20, 2015

On Sept. 20, 2015, our loving, faithful husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Larry Neilson Smith, died.

Larry was born May 20, 1933, to Bussell Ward Smith and Amy Neilson in Cowley. When he was only 6, he lost his loving mother. Two years later, his father married Margaret Crowder, who helped raise Larry to become a young man. He grew up learning how to work on the small family farm in Cowley, gaining his education and developing his faith along with his brothers Metz and Craig and stepbrother Charlie and his sisters Arleen, Karma and Claudette and stepsisters Doris and Janet.

Larry married Donna Bosella Gormley on Nov. 10, 1953, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were best friends and sweethearts for nearly 62 years. They were blessed with five children: Julie Ann, Steven (June), Doug, Tara Kay Frandsen (Glenn) and Shane (Lori). Larry loved and cared for all deeply.

Larry was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served diligently in many callings. Many were blessed by his countless acts of service, leadership and love. He had a fervent testimony of a living God, who loves us, and a knowledge of his son, Jesus Christ. This knowledge gives us all hope that we can be together forever.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bussell, Amy and Margaret Smith; his brothers, Metz, Craig and Charlie; his sister, Arlene; his daughter, Julie Ann, and two great-granddaughters, Allyson and Sara.

He is survived by his children listed above, 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Karma, of Orem, Utah, and Claudette, of Billings.

"Dad, we love you. We know, after 12 years of being imprisoned by the awful Alzheimer's disease, you are free and enjoying those who have waited for you for so long.

"We want to thank all of our friends and caretakers at the Orem Behabilitation and Nursing Home and the hospice nurses. Our lives have been richly blessed because of your watchful care."

A family gathering was held on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Lindon Second Ward building in West, Lindon, Utah. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 26, in the Geneva Heights Sixth Ward building, in Orem, Utah. A viewing was held prior to the funeral.
