Weather doesn't stop attendees from enjoying second annual event

East Bernard citizens came out to the City Park on Saturday for a day of outdoor fun at the second annual Backyard Bash.

There were events for the whole family to enjoy, including soccer, washers and a softball tournament and a cow drop hosted by the East Bernard FFA. A food truck parked nearby to keep everyone well fed in between the different activities.

"The weather did put a damper on the event," said City Secretary Audrey Scearce. "We didn't have as many people as expected, which is understandable."

The city already has big plans for next year's Backyard Bash, and are forming a committee for the event. Anyone interested in sitting on the committee should contact Scearce at City Hall.

Despite the rainy weather that threatened, participants enjoyed themselves, and some even took home trophies from the tournaments.

In the softball tournament, the Swoldiers team won first place, the Stelzel team took second and the Fultysek team third.

The Priority Roofing team took first in the Washers tournament and the Polak team won second.

"Everyone had a great time, and we're ready for next year," said Scearce.
