MALAKOFF — Malakoff Rotarians learned more about next month's Relay for Life event in Brownsboro that will raise funds to fight cancer and raise awareness about the disease during their weekly meeting April 5.

Carlos Padron, president-elect of Malakoff Rotary and manager of Citizens National Bank's Malakoff branch, said the event will last from noon until midnight Saturday, May 14. The 12-hour event will take place at the Brownsboro High School practice field. Citizens National Bank (CNB) has a team that will participate in the event, Padron said, as it has for the past decade.

The Malakoff branch of CNB also will host an event to raise funds and awareness in conjunction with Relay for Life.

That event, the Springtime Cookout, will be Friday, April 29. A barbecue grill will be given away during a drawing at the bank, which is located at 115 W. Royall Blvd. (Highway 31) in Malakoff.

Padron also shared with Malakoff Rotarians a bit of business news from Athens. The industrial site just west of State Loop 7 near Athens has a new tenant expected to bring 240 jobs to the area.

Clayton Homes, founded in 1956, builds modular and manufactured homes as well as military barracks and apartments. Clayton Homes produces 34,000 homes annually and will fill the spot formerly housing Industries which made filters at the Athens location.
