JV girls dominating district

The JV Lady Bulldog basketball team has breezed through the early goings of district play and are an impressive squad with an overall record of 14-4, 3-0 in district. Burnet's last two wins came against Llano on Tuesday, 52-20 and Taylor on Friday, 70-15.

Burnet welcomed the Lady Jackets to town on Tuesday night and quickly took a 10-3 lead over their opponent in one quarter of play. Kianna Moss scored five points in the opener, followed by Emma Lewis who hit a trey and Kendall Rex with a jumper for two.

The Lady Dawgs really began to pull away in the second period. Burnet had four three-pointers in the quarter including two by Lewis and two by Jayci Craig. Chelsea Bible chipped in two points to give Burnet 14. Llano added four to their total and at the break it was all Burnet, 24-7.

The Lady Dawgs went on to outscore the Jackets 13-7 in the third and 15-6 in the fourth for the big, 52-20 win.

Lewis scored 18 points in the game, all from outside the arc. She hit six three-pointers in the contest. Next on the scoring chart was Craig and Bible with eight each, followed by Baby Romero, seven; Moss, six; Rex, four; and Kiley Burton, one.

On Friday the girls in green traveled to Taylor for game three of 25-4A play. Individual stats were not available for this contest but Burnet improved their district record to 3-0 with a 70-15 win over the Lady Ducks.

On Tuesday night the JV girls hosted Salado and this Friday they will take to the court in Liberty Hill versus the Lady Panthers. Tip-off is set for 5:15 p.m.
