Big Deal Bridge Club

Phyllis Queen played hostess last week, October 29, at the country home of Jerry Mirich. It was a full house as Wanda Materi, Judy Bartels, Eda Gose, Jan Douglas, Marsha Huckins, Carolyn Holso, Linda Brost, Deanna Mirich, Olive Mellor and Jimmie Nelson joined forces with Phyllis and Jerry to contest those spooky cards in a few hands of bridge. There was hot coffee and tea for sipping and popcorn, grapes, Chex® mix and chocolates for our enjoyment.

Scrambling her way to the top was a joyful Judy with a respectable score of 3,740 and a jubilant Jan found herself in second place with a fine score of 3,480. Very nice playing, gals. Glad the cards treated you right! Playing tricks on Jerry, those fickle cards said "No Way!", and left her holding an empty bag with the low score of the day. Sorry, Jerry. Maybe next time, huh? In another light altogether, a delighted Deanna not only had her tally card drawn for the penny win, she also won the deuce prize! The pennies were nice. Now she has a nice stash, and the deuce prize was keen too. This week's prize was a barbed wire wall hanging. It was heart shaped and wound with ribbon and a big bow. Nice little adornment for a small wall space.

Blessed is a partner who has nothing bad to say and cannot be persuaded to say it.

And so it goes, another fine day at the bridge tables.
