The Hancock Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for help in naming a 2015 Hancock Business Person of the Year. The award, given annually, is intended to recognize a business owner or business manager who contributes much of their professional and personal time and talents in making the Hancock community a better place to live and work.

Nominees do not have to be residents of Hancock to receive consideration, but their contributions must be significant to the local community. Husband and wife, and business partners, may be nominated jointly. Nominees do not have to be members of the Chamber.

"Hancock has many hardworking small business owners and business managers that strive to make our community a better place to live and work," said Chamber President Wayne Keefer. "This award recognizes that hard work, and our hope is to make it known how much the local and business community supports those efforts in Hancock."

A winner will be announced at the December Chamber meeting. A $100 donation by the Chamber will also be made to an area non-profit of the winner's choice. The inaugural 2012 winner was Dianne McCusker, owner of Stoner's Florist & Garden Center. The 2013 winner was Ernie Faust, then manager of Hardee's, and last year's winners were Emlynn and Stephanie Shives, owners of Shives' Pizza.

Nomination forms may be picked up and dropped off at all three banks in Hancock: CNB Bank, Inc., M&T Bank, and Susquehanna Bank. Nominations, (if the submitter's name and contact information is provided), will also be accepted by e-mail if sent to and by regular mail when mailed to: Hancock Chamber of Commerce, Post Office Box 97, Hancock MD 21750.
