4-H members attend Achievement Day

Wirt County 4-H'ers took part in Achievement Day Oct. 18 at Camp Barbe 4-H grounds.

Awards were as follows:

Receiving their five-year member pins were Lexi Starcher and Maggie Bailey.

Ten-year member pins went to Jordan Enoch, Ethan Fleak and Dylan Frazier.

First-year leader pins were awarded to Katie Bowsher and Kerry Cottrell.

Receiving project pins for the outstanding work on their project were: swine, Sara Clark, Avery Reeder and Matthew White; beef, Troya Browing, Baylee Sims and Emma Wyer; sheep, Hunter Hall and Gracelyn Smith; rabbits, Jackie Cheuvront, Remington Cheuvront and Isabella March; cats, Cassie Bowsher and Lyndsey Powell; dog, Tristen Smith and Lexie Starcher; horse, Troya Browning and Cayley

Cox; vet science, Jordan Enoch; foods, Hunter Moore and Holley Moneypenny; fishing, Ethan Fleak; achievement, Andrew Alton, Levi McVey and Hunter Hall; outdoor recreation, Ryan Alton; forestry, Wyatt Powell; small engines, Tyler Brannon; poultry, Logan Powell; tractor, Kyle Bentz; rocketry, Aaron Stutler; performing arts, Cassie Bowsher; sewing, Cassie Bowsher; and woodworking, Kasey Starcher.

Receiving pins for taking part in the Beef Expo judging contest were: Maggie Bailey, Mikayla Bailey, Nicole Bailey, Cassie Bowsher, Sara Clark Courtney Easton, Ethan Fleak, Glen McFee, Adeline Sims, Lance Sims, Charles Wells, Natalie Wells, Gracelyn Smith, Brooklyn Smith and Tristen Smith.

Receiving a certificate and ribbon for state poster participation were Andrew Alton, Ryan Alton, Kyle Bentz, Cassie Bowsher, Levi McVey, Kasey Starcher and Lydia Torres.

County Round-up recognition was awarded to Cassie Bowsher, Cayley Cox, Austin Dille, Jordan Enoch, Adeline Sims, Baylee Sims, Lance Sims, Lee Sims, Lydia Torres, Charles Wells and Natalie Wells.

Four-H members attending state camps were: Elizabeth Adams, Older Members Conference; Tyler Brannon and Ethan Fleak, Alpha I Camp; and Walker Siers, Alpha II camp.

Two 4-H members received the highest honor a 4-H'er can receive on the state level, which is the All Star.

Elizabeth Adams and Walker Siers were awarded All Star status when they attended the state camps.

Outstanding 4-H members for 2014-15 were Lydia Torres and Tristen Smith.

Club awards were given to the Blue Ribbon (Pee Wee Go Getters) and Red Ribbon (Morristown Mountaineers) clubs.

Clubs also received recognition for their National 4-H Week displays. Those clubs were: first place, Morristown Mountaineers; second place, Pee Wee Go and third place, Newark Shining Stars.
