Eartha Vonell Bethel Browning

Eartha Vonell Bethel Browning, 76, of Central City, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville following a sudden illness.

Born in Luzerne Aug. 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Albert Lee Smith and Tilda Lena Phelps Smith. She worked for Cowdens for years and was a member of Duvall's Chapel General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy W. Bethel in 1987; her second husband, William Browning in 2000; and two brothers, Jewell Smith and Ray Smith.

Survivors include her loving companion, Harold Randolph of Central City; three daughters, Debbie Hudnell of Greenville, Ellen (Eddie) Perdue and Anita (Bobby) Garrett, both of Central City; two step-sons, Mathew Browning and Arkley Browning, both of Bremen; a step-daughter, Lela Browning of Bremen; three grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Garrett, Josh Perdue and Jeremy Perdue; three step-grandchildren, Whitney Browning, Dillion Browning and Shelton Browning; two sisters, Loraine Bethel and Linda (James) Embry, both of Greenville; and three brothers, Jimmy (Betty) Smith of Central City, Robbie (Mary Nell) Smith of Johnson City, Tenn. and David (Judy) Smith of Greenville.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Nov. 19 at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville with the Rev. Ken Miller officiating. Burial followed in Nebo Cemetery.
