Sara Gerk, former partner, now full owner of flower shop

As owner of Ed's Floral shop in LeRoy, Sara Gerk has stepped up to the plate and made some changes which have dramatically opened up the business for customers to easily take a second look at what she has to offer in the way of new gift items and greeting cards. She whipped the card display case to the other side of the room, which somehow changed the looks of the entire shop and made it seem like it was much larger than before! It takes a minute or so for it to dawn on you that something has really changed in Ed's Floral!

Now, Sara is taking another big step by offering to have a Community Ed program at Ed's Floral on Wednesday, Nov. 18th, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. when local persons may attend a class to make a Thanksgiving Floral Centerpiece of his or her own design, right there in the downtown shop building. The class and the centerpiece may be had by registering with L-O Community Ed by Nov. 6. It sounds like a fun evening of working with fresh flowers, the centerpiece done just in time to display for Thanksgiving day.

Sara has been involved in Ed's Floral for near to 10 years, having first worked for Ed in Stacyville, where she lives. She then went into the floral business with Karen Bremer, the partnership owning the shop in the years since.

But on April 1, 2015, Sara took over the management and ownership of the entire business and has since been doing her own thing. She still offers the fine floral service for weddings and funerals, anniversaries and birthdays, always ready to help with any and all celebrations, as has been the tradition with Eds Floral in all the years it has been in business in LeRoy and in Stacyville too, when that store was a going business. She offers customers a wide variety of fall and winter decorations and ideas for home decor.

Still providing patrons with a wide variety of greeting cards for all occasion, Sara has added a display of less expensive greeting cards as well. She has added more gift ware to the displays throughout the store and welcomes persons to come and take a look at what is available for weddings and shower gifts, besides the wonderful gifts of flower displays offered every day. There is much to choose from in this familiar setting, and being a part of Sara's class when she teaches the art of making a fresh flower centerpiece for Thanksgiving.

Sara and her husband Brad Gerk live in Stacyville with their two children, Katelyn, age 11 and in the sixth grade, and Tyler, aged nine and in fourth grade, in St. Ansgar where Brad works at the Grain Mill there.

Sara is helped on occasion by Marcia Hooge of LeRoy who steps in with helping hands when needed. The two are happy to offer a variety of party balloons to perk up a party setting for any and all events. The shop is open from nine to five Monday through Friday and from nine to one on Saturday. Stop in and take a look at the new Eds Floral shop!
