AGRICULTURE CAREER SPOTLIGHT

Lyon County News, Inc. of George, Iowa

Glenn Eben is our agriculture career spotlight for the month of October. Glenn grew up in George, Iowa and attended George High School. After high school he continued his education at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Glenn and his wife Darcy have 4 daughters, Kaitlyn, Anna, Danielle, and Madison. He raises his own livestock which includes both cattle and sheep. While Glenn was growing up he always knew that he wanted to be involved with agriculture in some way. But with the farm crisis of the 80's he knew that farming was going to be tough at that point and time, so he tried to be as involved on the farm as he could. Currently Glenn and his family still resides in George, where he is a Beef Production Specialist at the Cooperative Farmers Elevator in George, Iowa. For his job he goes out to farmers who work with him to balance diets, feeding programs, and basic nutrition needs. He has been working with area cattlemen for 22 years and strives to help them get the best results they can in their operation. When he has free time he enjoys grilling and smoking meat, assisting with many George-Little Rock FFA activities along with being an active member of the Lyon County Cattlemen This month's FFA spotlight is on our chapter FFA Vice President

Jesse is the son of Don and Jody Kramer. He has five siblings: John, Caleb, Cody, Claire, and Levi. Jesse is a senior and a three year FFA member. He went lo the FFA National Convention his sophomore year and was in Livestock Judging. One way FFA has impacted Jesse future is by making him a better leader. He is also involved in NHS and basketball. He enjoys working at home on the farm. Jesse's future plans include going to SDSU for electronic engineering. His advice to freshmen arc lo lake school seriously because it actually matters.
