The Eagles will again take their season into the State Championship playoffs with the quarterfinal game being played in Eads next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against Pawnee. The Eagles advance with a 58-14 win over Genoa-Hugo.

Scoring for Eads started on a Caden Parker to Fred Turner pass for a 13 yard touchdown followed up by a successful PAT by Bryce Batterton. Eads defense kept Genoa-Hugo in check and with 3 minutes ticked off the clock Eads' Reagan Lane was crossing the goal line for touchdown #2 on a 6 yard run. Batterton again came through with the PAT. Before the end of the 1st quarter Eads found the end zone grass again with a Caden Parker to Trent Mitchek 10 yard touchdown pass. The PAT wasn't added but Eads was leading after 10 minutes 22-0.

The 2nd quarter was similar to the 1st with Parker finding Dylan Dixon in the air for an 11 yard touchdown pass but Batterton's PAT went off to the right. Dixon scored again on a 25 yard run but they only got the 6 points and not the PAT again. Reagan Lane was scoring before the end of the 1st half on a 27 yard touchdown run. Batterton found his foot again and the PAT sailed through the uprights. Genoa-Hugo was able to put up 6 points in the 2nd quarter with a Brandon Ravenkamp pass to Caid Smith for a 29 yard touchdown.

Fred Turner was on the receiving end of a Parker pass for a 45 yard touchdown and Reagan Lane was able to punch it in from 2 yards out to score Eads' last touchdown of the game in the 3rd quarter. Batterton was able to nail both PATs.

Genoa-Hugo was able to put up more points on the scoreboard in the 4th quarter on a Caid Smith 4 yard touchdown and teammate Cody Hurtado knocked it through the post was the extra 2. That would be the only points scored to end the game.

The Eads defense was tough throughout the game with Reagan Lane getting 2 sacks, Fred Turner and Rustin Jensen also came away with a sack, and Rhett Uhland also dropped the quarterback in the backfield for a sack. Caden Parker recorded 2 interceptions for the day.

Eads will have to work on eliminating the turnovers as they recorded three. The yellow flags will have to stop too as the Eagles advance into the state bracket.

Eads will be seeded #3 in the bracket and will host Pawnee (#6) on Saturday, November 8, at 1:00 p.m.
