Jenkins Man Indicted On Rape, Child Abuse Charges

A Jenkins man was indicted on charges that he raped and sodomized a female minor less than 14 years of age in July and August of this year. Wesley Deran Hatton, 33, of Hwy. 3400, Jenkins was charged with Rape in the 2nd degree, Sodomy in the 2nd degree, Use of a Minor in a Sexual Performance, Possession of Matter Portraying Sexual Performance by a Minor, and 1 st Degree Sexual Abuse. The case was brought from the Whitesburg City Police.

The Letcher County Grand Jury also returned the following indictments last week:

Robert Wayne Heiston, Jr., 59, of Neon was charged with Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, a Class C Felony that carries a sentence of 5 to 10 years imprisonment and $1, 000-$10,000 fine. He was also charged with Assault, Wanton Endangerment and Terroristic Threatening following an August 21st incident in which the Grand Jury states Heiston caused physical injury to Christy Whitt by striking her in the head with a handgun and threatening to kill her. The case was brought by Trooper Scott Caudill of the Kentucky State Police.

Steven Ritchie, 24, of Busy, Kentucky was charged with Theft of a Firearm, Disorderly Conduct, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Alcohol Intoxication, Resisting Arrest, and 2 counts of Wanton Endangerment. The charges stem from the theft of a 9 mm pistol belonging to Kayla Gentry in October. Then appeared at the Streetside Bar and Grill and Summit City Bar & Grill in Whitesburg waving and pointing the pistol towards and in the midst of several patrons in both establishments The case was brought by KSP Trooper Scott Caudill.

Wendy Renee Mullins, 39, of Pikeville, was charged with Promoting Contraband, Persistent Felony Offender. The case was brought by Letcher County Deputy Jailer Ben Fields.

Robert Tyler Calhoun, 22, of Railroad Hill, Jenkins was charged with Public Intoxication, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, Fleeing/Evading Police, and Tampering with Physical Evidence as the result of an August incident when he was arrested while in possession of a syringe and clear pill bottle containing illegal controlled substance according to the indictment. The case was brought by Jenkins Police Chief Jim Stephens.

Paula Denise Gregory, 35, of Harlan, was charged with Complicity to Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursor and Hindering Prosecution. The indictment alleges that Gregory acted with Christopher Wayne Hill in possession a drug product or combination of drug products with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine. The indictment further charges that Gregory rendered assistance to Hill whom she knew was being sought in connection with the commission of a murder with the intent to hinder his apprehension, prosecution, conviction and punishment. The case was brought by Det. Jim T. Whitaker of DESI.

Christopher Wayne Hill, 44, of Lynch was charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursor, Fleeing/Evading Police, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Persistent Felony Offender for a September incident in which Hill attempted to flee from the Kentucky State Police while in the possession of meth manufacturing precursors and drug paraphernalia used to manufacture illegal substance. The case was brought by Det. Jim T. Whitaker of DESI.

Evan D. Osborne, 30, of Norton, Virginia was charged with Criminal Mischeif 1st Degree, and four counts of Wanton, as well as several traffic related charged following an August 21 incident in which Osborne is alleged to have been operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended for DUI and fleeing from police at high speed. The case was brought by the Whitesburg City Police.

Misty Doylene Ison, 45, of Delia Riley Lane in Isom, was charged with Public Intoxication, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance — 1st degree Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and Persistent Felony Offender. The case was brought by Officer Shawn Blair.

Bruce D. Jacobs, 27, of Cromona was charged with Driving while License Suspended to DUI, a Class D Felony.

The following were charged, with Flagrant Non-Support and Persistent Felony Offender:

Kayla D. Lucas, 27, of Bartesta Branch, Whitesburg;

Jamie Edward Sturgill, 42, of Ermine;

Jason Lee Polly, 34, of Lakeside Drive, Jenkins;

Stephen Lee Fox, 50, of Thornton.

The following were charged with Flagrant Non-Support:

Dallas L. Monroe, 37, of Forest Hills, Kentucky;

Tabitha L. Spangler, 34, of Mayking;

Rodney Lee Sturgill, 50, of Eolia;

Kimberly Ann Couch Mclntire, 48, of Whitesburg;

Kristina S. Tackett, 32, of Jeremiah;

The following were charged with First Degree Bail Jumping for failing to show for court scheduled appearances:

Brian Darrell Polly, 44, of Jenkins; Lacrisha Muse, 23, of Hazard; and Eva Jenelle Brown, 36, of Ermine.
